The driver's seat doesn't feel quite as supportive as it did when you left home. The charging cable has vanished somewhere beneath a jacket. The sunglasses that were carefully placed on the passenger seat have somehow ended up on the floor. The steering wheel feels a little more worn than you remember.
None of these things are serious problems.
The Defender has never been a vehicle designed around comfort and convenience. Most owners wouldn't want it to be. Part of its appeal comes from the fact that it still feels honest, mechanical and uncomplicated in a world where many vehicles seem determined to do everything for you.
That said, there are certain upgrades that can make a noticeable difference when you're spending several hours behind the wheel.
Interestingly, the modifications people appreciate most aren't always the ones they get excited about when planning a build. New wheels tend to get attention. Exterior accessories often attract compliments. Yet when customers come back and talk about the upgrades they've genuinely enjoyed living with, the conversation usually centres around comfort, practicality and usability.
We've found that the best Defender upgrades are often the ones you notice every day rather than the ones other people notice when you're parked up.
